A private get-away in Staniel Cay, Exumas, Bahamas (85 miles southeast of Nassau in the middle of the Exuma chain of islands...100 miles with 365 islands!), Serenity Cottage is ideal for two couples or a family seeking island exploration. The new round-design Serenity Cottage is right on the water overlooking Thunderball Grotto where parts of Splash, Never Say Never and Thunderball movies were filmed (third "rock" in above sunset photo). There is a separate boat house and dock for sunning, swimming, fishing, etc.
Makers Air flies from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport. Call 954-771-0330.
The island of Staniel Cay is just over a mile square, with a native population of about 100. Everything is within walking distance. The island is a favorite vacation spot for cruising yachtsmen and private pilots, with good anchorages and a paved, 3,000 ft runway. There is a little village with General Store, Grocery & Gift Shops, Church, Clinic, three Restaurants/clubs and Community Picnic Beach. Activities include snorkeling, shelling, beachcombing, star-gazing, exploring other islands, and in general, enjoying the Good Life. Because Staniel Cay is so small and not serviced by major airlines, not too many people hear about it. That's its charm and beauty...and why you will return again and again.
PLEASE NOTE: There are no ATMs on the island, and only a couple of places take credit cards, for a fee. Be sure to bring CASH with you!
